NEWS RELEASE: Second Annual “Operation Soldier Assist” Honors Soldier and Civilian
KANSAS CITY (Sept. 30, 2008) – More than 50 home remodeling professionals and other volunteers from the Kansas City area will spend Sat., Oct. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Leavenworth, Kan. making repairs and renovations to the home of Sean Resare, who was a staff sergeant in the Kansas National Guard who was injured in Iraq in February 2006.

The Second Annual “Operation Soldier Assist” is a community service project of Kansas City NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), in cooperation with the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (KCAUSA). <more>
NEWSFLASH: Son Tay Raid veteran provides presentation at KCAUSA breakfast meeting
KANSAS CITY (Sept. 18, 2008) Terry Buckler, the youngest member of the 1970 mission to rescue American prisoners of war from the Son Tay Prison Camp in North Vietnam, provided a presentation to KCAUSA members and guests about the selection, train-up and execution of the mission. Buckler's presentation was the feature of the KCAUSA Breakfast meeting Sept. 18. <more>

KANSAS CITY (June 15, 2008) The Greater Kansas City and Henry Leavenworth Chapters of AUSA hosted the Heart of America Army Birthday Celebration in Kansas City, June 14, at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Gen. Eric K. Shinseki, U.S. Army, Ret., the 34th Chief of Staff of the Army, was the honored guest speaker.  Also present for the evening was the commander of the U.S. Army First Infantry Division, Maj. Gen. Robert Durbin, who gave a brief update on the Big Red One's recent activities. <more>
