|September breakfast with ROTC leadership and cadets a success; Next breakfast Oct. 28
|We had a great September breakfast meeting with the Professors of Military Science and cadets from the ROTC programs that our chapter supports with performance incentives and mentoring. The panel of cadre and cadets represented Pittsburg State, KU, Missouri Western and Wentworth Military Academy. (Central Missouri could not attend.) Panel members described their ROTC programs and answered questions. Many chapter members think that our support of ROTC is the most effective way that we contribute to the Army by helping to build our future leaders.
Our next breakfast will be at the Westin on October 28, when we will review the events and issues raised at the AUSA National Meeting in Washington.
Our chapter is partnering with the American Warrior project of the Business Club of Overland Park in an effort to bring our corporate and individual members together on the issue of post-military careers.
Join us for a great breakfast program in October! RSVP to Diane at Dianeboeger@sbcglobal.net
|KCAUSA celebrates 15th anniversary at August breakfast meeting- next breakfast Sept. 23
|AUSA members and guests gathered for the monthly breakfast meeting on Aug. 26 at the Westin to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the chapter. Additionally, retired Col. George Coan, Director of National Security Studies at AUSA National, delivered a dynamite briefing on the important security issues facing the Army and reiterated the important role AUSA serves as the Voice of the Army.
Chapter activities and accomplishments over recent months include support for ROTC, soldiers and their families, wounded warriors, Gold Star Families and homeless veterans. Chapter members participated in the Patriot’s Day Run, an Army/Navy game watch party, and sponsorship of the CGSC Forum Lunch. Of course, a key annual activity for our Gold Star Chapter is hosting the largest Army Birthday Celebration west of the Mississippi.
Please attend our next breakfast meeting on Sept. 23, when we will have a panel of ROTC Professors of Military Science and cadets, who will discuss the ways that AUSA supports the ROTC programs in our area.
|Next breakfast meeting set for Aug. 26
|At our last breakfast meeting on July 22, Dr. Matt Naylor, CEO and President of the National WWI Museum (and chapter member), presented an exciting program about the Museum and its importance to our community and its worldwide stature as an acclaimed exponent of the importance of WWI to the course of history.
The next breakfast meeting will be our annual celebration of the founding of the chapter. Retired Colonel George Coan from AUSA National HQ will be our guest presenter and will talk about the strategic issues about which AUSA is a key influencer in government. As part of our birthday breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Westin Crown Center Hotel on Tuesday, Aug. 26, we will conduct a drawing for five books among our attending members.
Please RSVP to Diane Boeger -- firstname.lastname@example.org
