Retired SMA Tilley joins CSA Retiree Council
By Laura Paul, Army Retirement Services
Retired Sergeant Major of the Army Jack Tilley became the new Co-Chairman of the Army Chief of Staff’s (CSA) Retiree Council starting November 1. He replaced retired Sergeant Major of the Army Robert Hall who served the Council for five years. The Council Co-Chairmen represent retired Soldiers and families at the Council’s annual meeting in April, and meet with this population at events such as installation Retiree Appreciation Days (RADs).
Four other retired Soldiers have recently been selected to begin four-year terms with the 14-member Council at the April 2007 meeting. Council members come from the ranks of Installation Retiree Councils and are nominated by their Installation Council, Installation Commander and Installation Management Agency Region.
The new members and their installations are retired Brig. Gen. Barton J. Gilbert (Fort McCoy, Wis.; serving the California/Nevada area); retired Col. Arlene F. Greenfield (Fort Myer, Va.); retired Command Sgt. Maj. G. Frank Minosky (Fort Hood, Texas) and retired Sgt. Maj. Clifford M. Lovett (Fort Leavenworth, Kan.).
In April 2007, Council members will meet at the Pentagon to review retiree-related issues submitted by Installation Councils worldwide which merit the attention of the CSA.
The CSA Retiree Council was established Nov. 10, 1971, originally as two separate enlisted and officer councils which were merged in 1990. All retired service members are represented by similar Councils – Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy (representing Navy and Marine Corps retirees).
